Indus Earth Trust installed a solar grid in village Ibrahim Panhwar in Gujjo, Thatta district with the assistance of USAID... The solar Mini grid (10 Kw system) was inaugurated by the CEO of Indus Earth Trust and Chairman Union Council Gujjo, Abdul Jabber Memon.
After the inauguration he said it satisfying to see the positive change in their lives with the availability of electricity .... Shahid Sayeed Khan – CEO – Indus Earth Trust said “The lack of energy infrastructure has left much of rural Pakistan without light. The development of these areas is hindered by the absence of this crucial amenity. Pakistan suffers from massive energy deficits, whereby installation of infrastructure would not have the desired effect upon alleviating current and future energy needs. Hence Solar Mini Grids are implemented.
Trustee of IET, Afia Salam spoke to the women about ensuring that now as electricity was available, children should study after day chores in the fields are completed, especially girls. They should also utilize these extra working hour to learn crafts for extra income generation.
The solar Mini grid provides electricity to 30 households (3 lights and 1 fan per house)and is also helping small businesses to run and already 4 villagers have set up shop...one for tailoring, one for tyre repair, one general store and one a tea hotel. Residential billing is rupees 300 and commercial billing is rupees 800 per month.

Indus Earth trust provides nature based solutions #InKohistan through rain water harvesting reservoirs. These ponds provide much needed water to communities whose #women have to walk miles many times a day. @CocaCola's #WaterForWoman project allows for replenishment of ground water while at the same time helping communities access water.
